This lamp was built from three materials: concrete, walnut, and threaded steel pipe. Two walnut pieces are joined at a 45 degree miter with a single domino mortise and tenon for strength, then cut and sanded. The concrete base was cast in custom formwork, with the threaded steel pipe cast directly into the pour, allowing the wiring to run cleanly through the structure and out of sight. The result is a lamp where each material plays a distinct structural role.
